Crystal Beach is located well to the south of the Riviera Maya on the more newly christened Costa Maya. The Costa Maya is a strip of white sand and turqouise sea running south from Punta Herrero through the fishing village of Majahual and down to Xcalak. The offshore reefs protecting Crystal Beach are part of the Great Maya Reef and the huge coral atoll known as Chinchorro Bank.
The Costa Maya with its new cruise ship dock has become popular with divers, sports fishermen and birders. It is the Mexican Caribbean’s newest destination and is targeted for low impact, low density development.
